Description
Students will practice three-digit subtraction with regrouping (borrowing) in this scaffolded activity. Students will see a three-digit minus three-digit math sentence in the standard algorithm (vertical) form. They will fill in each box one at a time to form a three-digit or two-digit difference. Students will SHOW ALL OF THEIR WORK DIRECTLY ON THE SLIDE (including the regrouping/ borrowing)!!! If a student makes a mistake, they will receive immediate feedback of where the mistake(s) are, so they can make corrections and resubmit. Scaffolds: - Touch-dot numbers on the subtrahend (smaller of the numerals) in each column - Column (place value) guides - Arrow pointing to the starting column (ones place) - Number line to assist in counting backwards 2.NBT.7 CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.NBT.B.7 Add and subtract within 1000, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method. 3.NBT.2 CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.NBT.A.2 Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. 4.NBT.4 CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.NBT.B.4 Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
