Understanding words in context targets a number of important language skills, such as identifying and using context clues, building vocabulary, and integrating multiple pieces of information. This deck presents 30 common core vocabulary words. Each word is presented in a paragraph with context clues. Students are then given the option to define the word in an open-ended format. If they are unable to do this, they can reread the paragraph with important context clues highlighted in yellow, and then choose the meaning of the word in a multiple choice format.
