Description: Help your students master R-Controlled vowels (Bossy R) with this fun syllable type sorting deck! Learning about syllable types builds decoding, phonics, reading fluency AND spelling skills. This deck would be a great addition to your Orton-Gillingham program, but it's also ideal for any phonics or word work curriculum, or for literacy centers! Good to Know: • There are 30 cards in total, one that explains R-Controlled syllables, and then 29 sorting cards. • All words are one syllable and may contain consonant blends or digraphs. • Syllable types include closed, open, silent E and R-controlled. How it Works: Students "feed" the words containing the target pattern to the pig-- and get a fun sound effect as they do! The pig will make a happy oink noise if correct and an annoyed squeal if wrong. (Sound effects can be turned off if you prefer!) The pig's mouth opens and closes as he eats, and the words will disappear. Kids will love this fun activity AND get a great review of syllable types. PLEASE NOTE: On touch screens (phones / tablets), the sound effects won't play automatically. To hear the sound, touch the corn before dragging it. I have a number of other syllable type sorting decks available, including ones that practice the other syllable types contained in this deck, so please check my store for more options!
