Description
This deck of 15 cards is intended to be used for direct instruction of phonemic awareness either in person or remotely. Three-dimensional drag and drop dots are used to visually demonstrate the process of segmenting words into individual phonemes. Phonemic awareness, or the ability to manipulate individual sounds or phonemes within words, is a critical skill for children to learn prior to decoding and spelling. Being able to successfully identify, substitute, and delete phonemes in words is a predictor of future reading success. Because phonemic awareness involves the sounds or phonemes in words, it does not include or require knowledge of alphabetic characters.
