Description: The Beaver Path reinforces combinations of 10 and the foundational base-ten knowledge of finding 10 in a number 11 to 19. All decks contain audio directions and prompts on each card. Decks are sequenced to provide students with increasing difficulty. Beavers 1, 2, and 3 have students practice the missing partner to make 10. Students use tens frames, number bonds, and equations. Beavers 4 and 5 are about decomposing the number 11 to 19 into a ten and remaining ones. Students use a base ten chart and counters and number bonds. Moveable counters are provided, if needed on Beavers 3 - 5. Beaver 1 shows students a tens-frame with 0 to 9 counters already filled in and the number displayed. Beaver 2 shows students a number bond with 10 in the whole and one of the parts filled in with counters and the number. Beaver 3 shows an equation in the format 10 = __ + __. The first addend is filled in and students must complete the equation. Beaver 4 is about breaking the numbers 11 to 19 into a ten and the remaining ones. There is an example slide showing all the steps to complete on the base-ten chart. Some cards are missing only counters, only numbers, or all parts. Beaver 5 is about breaking the numbers 11 to 19 into a ten and the remaining ones. Students are shown a number bond with the whole completed. On some cards, only the ones are missing. One other cards, students must complete the entire number bond.
