Description: Would you like an interesting and engaging way for your students to learn about (or review) the ancient civilizations created by the Aztec, Inca, and Maya? If so, this set of Boom Cards can help. In the Maya hunt students will learn how the Maya developed into an advanced civilization, how we know so much about them, what happened to them, and more. In the Aztec hunt students will learn why the Aztecs settled in Mesoamerica, how they were able to become successful farmers in a land surrounded by water, what activities the Aztecs participated in, what caused their civilization to decline, and more. Then in the Inca hunt students will learn how the Inca Empire was different from many other empires, what their Golden Rule was, what caused the Empire's collapse, and more. In each hunt students are presented 20-21 multiple-choice questions. After they read a question, they read the information that will help them answer the question. If they choose the correct answer, they are directed to the next question. If their answer is incorrect, they are redirected to the passage again to find the correct answer. The final card in each hunt challenges students to write 3 interesting facts they learned from the hunt. These hunts can be used to supplement a study of ancient civilizations, to enhance the understanding of a story, or practicee for reading informational text.
