Description: Save when you get this bundle! I developed my first spelling patterns for long vowels resource back when my biggest group in every class was Saudis. Boom cards didn't exist back then, and this is based on the paper version sold in my TpT store. These decks are best used in conjunction with that, but they can stand alone as well. On each card, students will see one word spelled out in tiles. They are to select the letter(s) that make the long vowel sound covered in that deck. If they wish to hear the word, they can click on the audio icon. PLEASE NOTE: There are always exceptions to “rules.” The spelling patterns that students will focus on in these BOOM decks are NOT going to apply to 100% of English words, and your students need to know this. This is meant to give them a starting point. As their English skills get stronger, they will encounter words that do not follow these spelling patterns. This is why I prefer to speak of them as “patterns” rather than “rules.” Finally, while you may have been taught that “When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking,” this is actually only true 36% of the time. For example: about, author, bear, earth, friend, & noise.
