Description: Compound words are a key element in phonological awareness for reading readiness. Teaching children to divide words into parts is instrumental for reading success. Teaching compound words leads to kiddos to be able to segment syllables, break words into smaller parts to decode longer words. This exercise is helpful to children who suffer from dyslexia. I have included two decks, one being a multiple choice, that requires students to choose the two words that join to form the compound word. The other requires students to key in the two words to form the compound word. Reading is FUN with positive reinforcement emojis!
