Description: Students that have language disorders, language delays, autism, or other special needs, need systematic intervention to help develop their vocabulary. One strategy to develop vocabulary and language skills is to work on categories and what doesn't belong. This growing bunde uses real photographs, so it is age-appropriate for older students with special needs. Some students are VERY clever and will come up with plausible answers that are "not the correct answer" which is why I've added the "Why" button. In your telepractice session, or distance teaching session, ask the student which one he thinks doesn't belong before clicking on a picture. That way, if he comes up with a novel answer, you can say that he's too clever for this card, take the opportunity to discuss with him another plausible answer to further build his language skills, and skip the card so that he doesn't get the error message.
