Description: Build letter-sound knowledge with this simple activity for pre-readers! Students practice listening to the initial sound in words to determine which ones begin with each letter of the alphabet.* This bundle includes one deck per letter, with ten multiple-choice cards in each deck. On each of the ten cards, the student is asked to choose the picture that begins with the highlighted letter sound. The cards include audio directions and audio labels for each picture. Additionally, these decks include alt-text for screen readers and are accessible for students who require accommodations for motor skills (as they do not include drag-and-drop exercises). Encourage students to listen to the audio labels (rather than guessing what each picture represents). Listening will reinforce letter sounds and will clarify any unknown or ambiguous vocabulary. *The letter X deck focuses on listening for the most common sound of X at the ENDS of words rather than the beginnings. This deck supports the standards: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.3 Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds used for each consonant. Associate the long and short sounds with the common spellings (graphemes) for the five major vowels.
