Description: Are you looking for interesting and engaging activities for Fire Prevention Week or National Safety Month that will teach your students about fire safety? If so, this scavenger hunt and coordinating banner or bulletin board activity can help. While completing the scavenger hunt, students will learn what the leading causes of home fires are, actions that can be taken to minimize the chance that they will occur, what they should never do if they are caught in a fire, and more. To complete the hunt, students answer 16 multiple-choice questions. First, they read a question and its possible answers. Then they read information that will help them answer it. If they choose the correct answer, they are directed to the next question. If their answer is incorrect, they are redirected to the passage again to find the correct answer. The final card in the deck challenges students to write 3 interesting things they learned from the hunt. Then extend student learning and assess their understanding by having them make a display for you classroom or hallway (banner or bulletin board). To make the display, students complete, color, cut, and display a piece of the Fire Safety Banner.
