Description: Can your students capture all 15 monsters? This bundle includes 15 different sets of cards relating to place value particularly designed for 5th grade students. I created these to use with the first unit of the Eureka/Engage NY math program so that my students could solidify the skills in using place value with decimals in all the forms required by the 5th grade common core, but they are easily used with any math curriculum and at any time of the year for review. Each set features a different monster that needs to be captured. You do not need the cards, but they are a fun way to reward students and to keep them motivated. My students love them. Each deck also has an onscreen card that comes up randomly telling the students the name of the monster that they have captured. I set a goal for my students to get all problems on a deck of cards correct in order to earn the monster card to color in. You can set different goals for different students. Students will willingly work again and again on a deck of cards until they develop mastery and earn the monster card. I use these decks as morning work to review and reinforce skills, but students also do them in their free time and at home. Each game is also sold separately.
