Description: "It doesn't matter which direction I read from." This is a direct quote from a 4th grader diagnosed with dyslexia. We had been making progress in his home speech therapy for about a year when he revealed exactly what the problem was. I wish I had had Boom cards then because with draggable feedback it becomes clear that order and direction are very important for him and repeated coaxing was reduced. .His sister has the same patterns of breakdown he had and the Boom cards I designed for her help her to focus, see the patterns and cue her to self-edit. She also copies many of the sentences either on the screen or on paper depending on how she feels. (Notice the cards about scribbling- she does that when she hits a pocket of stress and disorder in language processing.) Both children had apraxia, then were unintelligible as young children. She is a rising 4th grader who is still in speech therapy in school as well.. I just finished this set to help her on her journey to read and comprehend on grade level. Her brother went to 6th grade middle school with " a set of tools" for reading and normal test scores".
