Description: Are you looking for a unique way to help your readers with the high frequency words beyond just memorization? This is an activity for teaching, introducing, and/or explaining the sight words for students. There are built-in scaffolds to support even the earliest beginning readers. This Boom Cards deck explains to readers the difference between regular and irregular sight words at each level. It teaches all 40 Preprimer, 52 Primer, 41 1st Grade, 46 2nd Grade, and 41 3rd grade words one-by-one in alphabetic order. Readers determine if the words are regular or irregular. Then for the irregular words, learners identify non-matching sounds and letters in Elkonin boxes. Next they choose the phonetic spelling. Lastly, students practice the correct spelling. Sounds are provided for directions, whole word sight words, sounding out irregular words, and spelling irregular words.
