Description: Repetition without habituation. Multiple choice tasks or studying word order by copying short sentences are designed to signal the child's brain to reorganize word order to form questions . Read aloud together to establish the motor patterns for speaking. These decks are listed in the order I usually teach because the pattern of " I can____?" questions is rigid when the child has skipped the developmental step of transposing word order to form questions, "Can we_____?" is rarely in their skill set so there is little resistance to learning this "new word order" and carry over is much easier. Then usually they are more receptive to "upgrading" their early developed "I can____?" to "Can I____?" . I have skipped to "Can you___?" which is a more social language skill and gone back to "Can I__?" lessons.
