Description: Are you looking for a fun Speech game? Try the STROOP Activity. If you have students who like to BLURT? Well, then YOU will love this activity which forces them to STOP and THINK before speaking. Plus you can use this game over and over again!. The Stroop effect was developed in 1935 by John Ridley Stroop It’s been used in psychology to learn how the mind works. More importantly, it shows how humans are hard-wired to use speech by proving that people label images by reading the word rather than paying attention to the color. I use this deck as a rewarding activity after a lesson. My students love it and race each other to see who can complete it quicker. In the process, I’m teaching them to slow down their brain and think before blurting! I sell this game in two versions, A receptive version where students are asked to choose from a choice of words, and an expensive version, where students are asked to provide the right color. In this activity, I am combining the two for a truly engaging experience. You will see some students do better in one than the other. I hope you enjoy it!
