Description: This set was created to help students understand root words and affixes. When reading, my students will often skip over the longer and more complex words. Unfortunately, much of the meaning is carried in those words. This set of root words and affixes shows how to break down words into shorter, more easily understood parts. Students identify the word parts as prefixes, suffixes or root words. The words are then reassembled and the meaning is provided. Students are encouraged to say the word aloud.
