About me: Welcome to Pitch Pine Learning! I'm a licensed and practicing high school special education teacher with 8 years of experience, and every deck in this store started as something I made for my own students.If you teach middle school, high school, or transition, then you know how hard it is to find meaningful, engaging, age-appropriate instructional materials. I got tired of settling, so I started building my own.Here you'll find decks for transition and life skills (independent living, community, workplace and pre-vocational, self-management) along with the functional academics that support them (money math, time and scheduling, and functional reading). I keep the visuals clean, the language plain, and the reading light unless reading is the point, and most decks come in scaffolded levels so one activity can stretch across a mixed group.About the name: the Pitch Pine is a stubborn and resilient tree. It grows in thin, sandy soil where other trees won't, and after a fire it comes back from its own trunk. It doesn't grow fast, it doesn't grow straight, and it doesn't grow on anyone's schedule, but it grows.
