About me: Hi! I'm Joanna from 3 Eighth Notes Music Studio, where our motto is "Discover the Musician in YOU!" I teach private piano lessons and music theory, all online! I offer loads of support between lessons for all my students to practice with confidence. I attended West Liberty University in West Virginia from Sept 1986 to Dec 1990 and earned my BA in Music Education (hons). I taught classroom music in private and public schools for a total of 8 years. I now live and teach in Bristol, England, where I learned all about ABRSM, (Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music). I was their local representative for 6 years and ran the local exams. Over the years, I attended many national education conferences, training sessions, professional development workshops and even several conventions, all related to music education and how to improve what I do with my students. This has led to me being an expert in my field. As of Thursday 12 June 2025, my students' exam results are as follows: 84 different students 178 different exams (instrumental and music theory) 105 Distinctions (130-150 for instrumental and 65-75 for music theory) 49 Merits (120-129 for instrumental and 60-64 for music theory) 24 Pass (100-119 for instrumental and 50-59 for music theory) 0 fail, on any exam. Now, I bring my expertise to provide Boom Decks with ABRSM Music Theory content for Grades 1-5. I am currently the only ABRSM-focused Boom Publisher who is actively creating new Decks.
