Description: Pirate Choose Your Path is an interactive Boom cards game in the style of a choose your own adventure book. This deck is full of hundreds of visual prompts for vocabulary words containing the target sound R in the initial, medial, final, and blend poisitions. Students who enjoy escape room games will love the mechanics of searching for treasure, choosing options, and moving pieces around. This game has 15 levels that have 12 possible prompts, totaling 180 unique prompts. The activity contains a cartoon pirate themed image and a short written passage with the target sound word written in sentences. Students can read each short paragraph aloud for articulation practice in structured conversation and with connected speech. Each level has three possible choices and paths to choose. Once a path has been chosen, the player is taken to a screen with four images with target words that students can practice. Two of the three choices will give a “try again” message and one choice will advance the player to the next part of the story. The open-ended structure of the game allows this activity to be used in speech teletherapy sessions that are individual or small groups, and the randomized complex format gives this game great replay value. The words are intended to be accessible for students in grades 2 through 5, but younger students should be able to access this game with support.
