Build a Spooky Sentence is a sentence writing resource designed to provide practice in the formulation and expansion of sentence structure. Sentence expansion is a strategy that teaches students how to write detailed complex and compound sentences. It is also an important skill in the ability to write and speak with more clarity. Expanding sentences empowers a student to paint a clearer picture of intended meaning and encourages the use of more specific vocabulary. Build a Sentence presents a series of Halloween themed words and sentence starters on each card. The students are asked to use, add or change words to make a complete and detailed sentence.
