Description: This is a game, not a self-checking activity. Students gain phonics practice through this fun game. There are 2 monsters and 1 picture of a pile of candy bars hidden amongst other pictures of candy. Pictures randomize each round. There are many ways to play this game. Suggestions: 1. Students read a word and drag the card to their player spot. First person to find the hidden monster loses that round. There are 11 rounds. Play all the rounds or until someone wins 6 of them. 2. They keep points for how many words they have read that round. Once someone finds the monster, they lose their points for that round up to that point. The other player keeps their points for that round. Keep a running total for all the rounds.* 3. Play as a class and see who can find the pile of candy bars first. This deck contains words with CVCC short vowel words where the final blend is either ng or nk. By opening different decks either in different windows or on different devices, students could play against each other using different levels of words. *Orange and green boxes are for tracking points, but points won't carry over to the next screen. To use, calculate the points up to that point; hit the submit button; put the points on the new screen.
