Description: This deck is designed to practice the differences between three closely related topics: weathering, erosion, and deposition. These three processes which are part of a science unit on slow changes of the earth are first explained in a couple early lesson slides. Then, students practice by matching each process to a picture and a description shown. This card set has 30 scenarios with eye-catching real-world images and descriptions that can be classified as changes due to weathering, erosion, or deposition. Since many pictures could relate to any of these processes, each card has key words highlighted in red to help guide students to the match. These task cards are a very versatile way to review a concept with your students. They work great as a station activity, for partner work, or as a quick formative assessment. Next Generation Science Standards 4-ESS2-1. Make observations and/or measurements to provide evidence of the effects of weathering or the rate of erosion by water, ice, wind, or vegetation. 4-ESS2-2. Analyze and interpret data from maps to describe patterns of Earth’s features.
