Description: This is a complex sentence comprehension task which requires your students to decide if two sentences have the same or different meanings. Assess your students’ ability to comprehend a variety of complex sentences such as passive form, compound sentences, embedded phrases ect. If you are looking for a syntax enrichment lesson, choose this 47 card deck. It contains 45 multiple choice prompts (90 sentences in total) to help your students improve their ability to comprehend complex sentences. I also like to use this deck as a basic assessment to see which sentences my students struggle with and then target that skill independently. The cards work well with older students (Grades 6-10)  or best when used with students who have mild cognitive delays yet good language skills. An independent lesson will take about 20 minutes. However, if you are using it as a teaching tool during instruction, the lesson can easily fill 60 minutes with breaks in between for group discussion. When I use this lesson with my Speech classroom, it takes  (60 minutes).
