Description: A set of articulation flashcards containing words with velar/alveolar combinations. How many times have you been working with a child who is fronting, and they master /k/ and /g/ beautifully in most contexts EXCEPT in words where there's also an alveolar sound like /t/ or /d/?! "Goat" goes back to "doat," "cat reverts to "tat," and so on. There are also kids who just mix up velars and alveolars in general and demonstrate a combination of both fronting and backing across different words with velar/alveolar combinations. Some also call this velar/alveolar assimilation (eg "kite" becomes "kike"). Whichever the case, this deck is a useful tool to help children practice those tricky sound sequences. All words have both alveolar plosives (t or d) along with velar plosives (k or g). Split into 2 sections-- 1 syllable words (20 cards) and 2 syllable words (20 cards)
