Description

Using Valentine's Day vocabulary words, this self-correcting deck reinforces syllabication strategies using two syllable words. Starting from VCCV pattern words, this deck progresses through VCV and VCCCV syllabication divisions. From there, it moves onto multisyllabic words with the following patterns: r-controlled vowels, magic/silent e, r-controlled, and -le endings. The syllabication approach is particularly effective for students who tend to guess after reading the first few letters. Students can drag the V and C letters to mark their vowels and consonants to determine where each word can be "split" into syllables. Next, they select which syllable would correctly represent the word.
