Description: If your adult ESL students have ever called you "teasher", they likely need to work on differentiating between the /ʃ/ and /ʧ/. Here's the thing, how can we expect them to pronounce the difference if they cannot HEAR the difference? They need practice. For each card, students will hear a word pair. They must identify whether they've heard the SAME word twice or two DIFFERENT ones. For extra support, they can also click on the sound icons in the bottom left-hand corner to hear just the /ʃ/ and /ʧ/ sounds in isolation. 20 of the minimal pairs are for initial sounds, and 14 are for final sounds. As with all my decks, I made this one with adult students in mind. It will not appeal to young learners. I based this deck on a worksheet in my Sh/Ch pronunciation resource available in my TpT store. Teaching adult ESL students? You've hit the jackpot! My entire store is devoted to adult ESL resources. Be sure to check out the bundles to save money. Contact me if you want/need a custom bundle.
