Description: If your adult ESL students have ever accused someone of "sheeting" off of them, they likely need to work on differentiating between the /ʃ/ and /ʧ/. Here's the thing, how can we expect them to pronounce the difference if they cannot HEAR the difference? They need practice. Students will hear a word and then select the word they heard from a given pair of minimal pairs. 20 minimal pairs are for initial sounds, and 14 are for final sounds. Please note that I have this same deck available in an easier version (#1) for students who are not yet reading. They hear the same words in that deck but select either /ʃ/ or /ʧ/. Like all my decks, I made this deck with adult students in mind. As such, this deck will not appeal to children. It is meant for high school age and older. Be sure to click on the "RELATED" tab to see what bundles include this deck. I based this deck on a worksheet activity from my Sh/Ch Pronunciation resource (pdf) available in my TpT store.
