Description: This deck is perfect to use at the beginning of the year. Students will look at the picture and say the word. Students will then think of the beginning sound and what letter makes that sound. Finally, they will drag the coconut with that letter onto the line. This would be a great deck to play whole group on an interactive board. This gives the class an opportunity to talk about beginning sounds as well as what the word would be if you substituted the beginning letter with another letter. For example, if the word is map what would the word be if we trade the /m/ sound with the /n/ sound? There is also the opportunity to talk about vocabulary.
