Description: Do your adult ESL students mix up their /r/ sounds with their /l/ sounds and vice versa? They may not be able to HEAR the difference in these sounds if their language doesn't have them. For example, the Korean ㄹ may sound like our /r/, /l/, or somewhere between. If students cannot hear the difference, how can they pronounce it? They need practice. Students will hear a word and then select the word they heard from a given pair of minimal pairs. All 36 minimal pairs are for initial sounds. Please note that I have this same deck available in an easier version (#1) for students who are not yet reading. They hear the same words in that deck but select either /r/ or /l/. Like all my decks, I made this deck with adult students in mind. As such, this deck will not appeal to children. It is meant for high school age and older. Be sure to click on the "RELATED" tab to see what bundles include this deck. I based this deck on a worksheet activity from my R/L Pronunciation resource (pdf) available in my TpT store.
