Description: This fun Odd One Out activity will help students notice the sounds of words that are often difficult to pronounce or distinguish. This is especially helpful for ESL students as they often have difficulty noticing the difference. Each card focuses on a group of five words that are all similar except for one, and students need to find the odd one out. Three types of activities: rhyming words, vowel sounds, and mystery sounds (students have to figure out what the common link is). This would work well as a partner activity so students can discuss the different pronunciations to determine the correct answer, or even as a whole class activity.
