Description: Adult ESL students trying to improve their pronunciation to be more easily understood struggle a lot more than kids do. Vowel sounds especially can trip them up, causing them to confuse (or not even hear) the difference between short a and short i. Grab this deck to zero in on this pronunciation difficulty and help them master the sounds of short e and short i. /ɛ/ vs. /ɪ/ It's easier to pronounce these sounds correctly if you can HEAR the difference. Your students will get lots of listening practice with this deck! Each card has an /ɛ/ vs. /ɪ/ minimal pair represented by both photos and words. The audio from the gold icon will play automatically. Students can immediately drag and drop it in the box for the correct word/image or click the silver icon to listen to the other word before moving any icons. Students must place both the gold and the silver icons in the box for the matching word/image. Students can listen to the words as many times as they want by clicking on the icons. Encourage your students to repeat the words as they hear them. This deck was created with adult students in mind and will not appeal to young learners. This boom deck uses the same photos as the digital presentation part of my Short E vs. Short i Pronunciation for Adult ESL resource in my TpT store.
