Subjects: edtech,ela

Grades: 14,13,1

Description: Students practice typing 1 or 2 letter combinations from the A row* on a "qwerty" keyboard. Kids can match the letter on the screen with the capital letters on the computer keys. They type the letter in the green box to match the orange box. Then press the enter/return key or click on the green "submit" box. Instant feedback will be given. (If needed, press on answer box to bring up virtual keyboard.) This is an independent practice deck, so students should already know how to use the enter/return key and backspace key. You may let them use the CapsLock key, or tell them to use the shift key for the capital letters. * A row is the row of letters that start with the A key: ASDFGHJKL. This Boom Card deck is part of my QAZ Modified Typing program for students with special needs, or young children. Deck #2 is lower case letter typing (in case you have Chromebook computers with lowercase letters on the keyboard). More decks are in development for Q row, Z row, and two or three rows together. Boom Cards can be played on a smartboard, tablet, smartphone, laptop, etc. using the internet or free "Boom Cards" app. They get immediate feedback and teachers can collect data on speed and accuracy. Moreover, teachers can analyze data quickly using the reports that are generated. Kids will be excited to use Boom Cards as a whole class on a smartboard, in small group centers, or independently for homework (as long as they have a computer or smartphone connected to the internet).
