These carefully-created Trick Word fluency task cards are designed to supplement, enhance, or complement your 1st Grade FUNDATIONS® Level 1 program (2nd ed.). This resource mirrors the trick words taught in Unit 2, Weeks 1 and 2 (is; a; the; and; he; of), and provides students with a cumulative review of grade-appropriate sight words and decoding skills. Each trick word is included in a decodable short story and illustration to put the targeted sight word in context. There are 14 self-correcting task cards (7 for each week) where STUDENTS HAVE TO: * read each trick word (2 cards; audio in context) * read a decodable short story and fill in the blank(s) with the trick word that makes the most sense (6 cards) * drag and drop words to make a complete sentence (6 cards) All cards are embedded with a button that automatically reads the directions to students to foster independence!
