Description: Students will drag and the real words to one snowglobe and the nonsense words to the other snowglobe. Words are made up nonsense words similar to real CVC words and actual CVC words that they have been practicing and learning to read. This is great for additional word sorting and reading practice, DIBELS interventions, and homework practice. While the DIBELS test doesn't require children to know the difference between real and nonsense words, sorting makes great practice because it ensures that students are actually reading the words in centers, small groups, or individually. Skills include: sounding out letter sounds sounding out words CVC word fluency reading nonsense words RF.1.2c Isolate and pronounce initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in spoken single-syllable words. RF.1.2b Orally produce single-syllable words by blending sounds (phonemes), including consonant blends. RF.K.3a Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
