Description: This set of 24 cards focuses on the following spelling rules when adding a suffix: Rule 1: if the word has 1 syllable (a word with one vowel sound), 1 vowel and it ends in 1 consonant, you double the final consonant before you add 'ing', 'ed', 'er', 'est' Rule 2: We usually drop the 'e' at the end of words when adding an ending that begins with a vowel suffix (e.g. -ing, -ed, -er, -able, -ous, ) Students look at the root word and add the ending USING the rules for suffixes listed above. All cards are a type written response. ** If your student is having a hard time seeing the word due to the keyboard - tip the iPad to the portrait position (rotate the orientation from landscape by simply turning the ipad) and the keypad will not be an issue.
