Description: When students use verb tense correctly, they can convey their ideas more clearly both verbally and in writing. These digital task cards will provide them with the meaningful practice they need to understand the simple past, present, and future verb tenses before they move on to the more advanced tenses. There are two multiple choice activities within this sequential set. In cards 2-11, students are given a sentence and must select whether the verb is past, present, or future tense. In cards 12-21, students are given a verb tense and must determine which sentence of three uses that tense. The rigor is increased in both activities because students must first identify the verb in each sentence to answer the questions. The sentences include both regular and irregular verbs (caught, built, swam, hit, and dug). Students have the option of clicking on the audio buttons if they need extra reading support. The set is designed for both first- and second-grade students and is also ideal for ELL students as they learn vocabulary and sentence structure.
