Description: This interactive activity helps students practice the skills needed to dry a load of clothing in a dryer. Many special education students struggle knowing how to correctly use common household appliances, and are therefore reliant on others to help them with this process. If you are looking for an interactive lesson that has students simulate what it is like to do it on their own, this activity brings learning to life. Students read the prompts on the screen and then press the buttons on the dryer to customize their settings. Students get immediate feedback for each entry. A total of SIX scenarios are included in this lesson. Each scenario has students practice (1) turning the dryer on (2) selecting the correct type of load to dry (3) selecting the correct dryness level (4) selecting the correct temperature level (5) selecting the correct amount of time to dry and (6) starting up the dryer after entering all their selections.
