Grades: 1,2,3

Description: This activity will help children with autism learn about the school supplies they will use as students. It will help students going to first grade but also those returning to school after a long break. The activity is designed to be very easy. To avoid any confusion, the non-school objects are items that a child is not too likely to encounter in a school setting. School items: backpack, pencil case, pencils, eraser, glue, scissors, notebook, colored pencils, sharpener, ruler. Non-school items: basket, ladder, tools, candle, cup, cat, bucket, boat, bed, fork. In the first ten slides, the student is presented with two images. He must click on the object needed for school. In the two last slides, the student is presented with a mix of school/non-school related items. He must drag and drop some school items into the backpack. The child must drop at least one correct object to earn a correct answer. If the student drags a non-school object, it will come back to its original place once the student clicks on the blue “submit” button. The student can click on the audio symbol at any time to hear an object’s name or an instruction.
