"R" Blends: Reading & Spelling

Description: This deck lets students practice reading and spelling words that begin with "R" blends. There are 43 cards in total, one which explains the activity, then 21 reading cards and 21 spelling cards! In the spelling cards, students can click on the picture to hear the word, then they type the word in the box. In the reading cards, students see the word with the blend highlighted. They tap the dots below each letter and say the sound, then slide their finger along the arrow to blend and read the word. Then they click the corresponding picture (similar sounding pictures have been included to make the activity more challenging). When students can do this easily, the cards can be read quickly to build fluency. All of the words have short vowel sounds and four phonemes (sounds), and most end in a single consonant. There are a few that end in digraphs (sh, th, ck). If you haven't taught these digraphs yet, you can simply hide these cards.
