Description
Students will practice showing time to the nearest five minutes by relating skip-counting by fives on a clock to a number line, in this scaffolded activity. Students will be given a time. They will see a number line with the hours labeled at each end (i.e. 6:00 in the front and 7:00 at the end). The student will drag a point to the number line showing the correct time. Built-in scaffolding: -On the first cards, students will see a number line with labeled hashmarks in intervals of five. -On the later cards, students will see a number line with hashmarks in intervals of five, but the hashmarks are NOT labeled. 2.MD.7 Tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m. 3.MD.1 Work with time and money. a. Tell and write time to the nearest minute. Measure time intervals in minutes (within 90 minutes). Solve real-world problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals (elapsed time) in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram or clock.
