Description: In this activity, your student/client will practice various comprehension strategies with non-fiction text while learning about salmon! This activity can be used for listening or reading comprehension and building receptive and expressive language skills. *Audio is provided on each card. Your student/client will read or listen to sentences as they learn about salmon. While they listen/read each sentence card, they will be asked to identify the relevant pieces of information. Following this practice, they will participate by defining and categorizing content vocabulary, as well as answering multiple choice comprehension questions. Lastly, your student/client is encouraged to practice retelling the information using the main idea and target vocabulary words. The retell can be oral or written. An outline with bullet points and the main idea are included. This deck is perfect for upper elementary through high school aged students. This is developed for speech-language pathologists, educators, and parents to teach and build receptive and expressive language skills in their students/clients/children with non-fiction text.
