This 34-card scavenger hunt that will teach your students interesting facts about the planet Mars. While completing the hunt, students will learn why Mars is called the Red Planet, whether or not there is water on Mars, could Mars sustain life, and more. To complete the hunt, students answer 16 true/false statements. To determine if a statement is true or false, they read a passage that will give them the answer. If they choose the correct answer, they will advance to the next statement. If they choose the wrong answer, they can return to the passage to see why they answered incorrectly. As students progress through the scavenger hunt a picture of Mars with its two moons is revealed. The final card in the deck requires students to write 3 interesting things they learned about Mars. This hunt can be used as a supplement to a study of the solar system, a science activity, to build background for a story, practice for reading informational text, a center, or as an easy activity for a sub.
