Description: This card deck includes 3 different skills (phonemic awareness of /r/ in words, auditory discrimination of correct productions of /r/ and articulation of /r/) on each page.  There is a 'demonstration page' that shows specifics on how to complete all tasks. The three skills include: 1). Locate:  Students will identify where in a word the target sound is positioned - beginning, middle or end;  2) Discriminate:  Students will listen to 4 different recordings of the word being produced, either correctly or incorrectly.  Errors attempt to use typical substitutions or distortions.  Upon listening to the recording, a student should judge the production and then place a 'thumbs' up for correct productions and a 'thumbs down' for incorrect productions; and 3)  Articulate:  Students should practice saying the word with the target sound correctly produced 10 times.  Minimal information is provided regarding self-monitoring, so therapists may want to provide additional information about this aspect of practice.   This deck is appropriate for both direct therapy as well as for independent practice.
