Description: Stretchy Snake is here to help your students stretch out words and blend the sounds together. Being able to blend sounds together and say the word is an important skill for beginning readers. In this deck, students will say the letter sound as they touch each dot. Students will then slide their finger across the arrow to blend the sounds together to read the word. Finally, students will find the matching picture. The deck is like an interactive version of Elkonin boxes. This deck focuses on short vowel words with blends and digraphs. If the sound box has 2 letters inside of it, students will know that those 2 letters work together to make 1 sound. This deck can be played whole group on an interactive board where the teacher can be the one to initially model for the students how to play. Students can also play independently.
