Description: Joining an existing group conversation is an important social skill, and challenging for many. This deck of BOOM cards takes your students through the steps involved in joining a group conversation, including: Surveying the group's body language, Thinking about what you are going to say, Establishing eye contact, Approaching and talking to the group, and How to be successful in the group. The deck begins with a student self-rating and a knowledge check. There are slides that discuss the differences between 1:1 and group conversations, with an emphasis on active listening in a group. Includes 13 social scenarios and questions with multiple choice responses, and 12 slides with social scenarios where students type in what they would say to join the conversation. There is a review at the end of the deck. One slide has students rate their level of comfort with joining a group conversation and at the end, students make a practice plan for how many group conversations they may try to join. This deck is meant for both teaching and practice of the skill of joining an existing conversation. Includes home page and arrows for navigation. Real photographs of middle school, high school and young adults are used and mutiple skin tones are represented. Students have the option to hear audio directions.
