Teach high schoolers with language deficits critical common core vocabulary to support understanding of standardized assessments and content requirements. There are 30 words comprised of Tier 2 and Tier 3 common core verb vocabulary (generally, abstract cognitive verbs) such as persuade, resolution, differentiate, etc. Images are provided for each word. Various activities with 3 escape rooms are included to support understanding each word using metacognitive strategies and evidence-based teaching such as activating prior knowledge, drawing/visualizing meaning, asking oneself questions, sorting words by meaning, oral response, and writing.
