Description: In this interactive Boom Card activity, your students will practice reading short nonfiction texts about natural disasters. The topics primarily focus on earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis. Students will read short passages crafted on a middle school readability level, then choose a summary that best suits each passage. Students will choose between two answer choices. One answer choice gives a brief summary, while the other answer choice adds specific details, or too many details and acts more as a retell than a summary. Students will work to discriminate between summary choices that are just right or too descriptive. The bright and cheerful graphics in this presentation will provide an exciting experience for students as they practice summarizing!
