Description: This deck provides a structured way to practice discrimination of the Ling Six Sounds as a daily listening check for children with hearing loss. In this activity, the child discriminates Ling 6 sounds (and silence) from a field of 6 picture choices by selecting the sound heard on each card. If needed, you may first review each of the Ling 6 sounds (ah, oo, ee, sh, ss, mm, plus the concept of "no sound") using the first card in the deck. Then utilize up to 42 cards of sound discrimination practice. On each card you'll find... ✅ Colorful and clear illustrations of familiar items to represent each sound that appear in random order each time you open the deck ✅ The option to play the sound in an adult male's voice, an adult female's voice, or a child's voice. ✅ The ability to uncover the "answer" on each card so that the parent, teacher, or therapist can produce the Ling sound with their live voice instead ✅ Immediate feedback of the selected picture Children with new hearing technology (such as hearing aids and cochlear implants) can benefit from completing this activity in speech or auditory verbal therapy and at home. Learning to discriminate the Ling 6 sounds provides a foundation for being able to identify the sounds and eventually complete daily listening checks successfully in all environments.
