Description: Students are presented with snowman at work, a winter house, a winter tree with snow, an igloo and an animated winter scene. Students are first asked to follow simple1-step directions with spatial concepts (e.g. on, on top, in front, under, above, below, between, next to). After, students are asked "where" questions such as "where is the firefighter" and provided with a sentence starter containing 3 empty spaces to help students expand their utterances as they answer the where questions. For example, students are presented with the sentence starter (the ___ is ___ the ___). Students are given 2 visual choices per blank box to help them drag and drop the correct item into the correct place of the sentence starter. Students are able to form sentences such as "the builder is in front of the house"" or "the teacher is under the tree." This helps students work on spatial concepts as well. Students are asked to follow 1-step directions with the following spatial concepts: - in front - behind - on top - above - below - under - next to - between Some of the following IEP goals can be targeted during this activity: - Wh- questions - Identifying and labeling Basic concepts (e.g. Spatial Concepts) - Following directions with Spatial Concepts - Expanding Utterances and increasing MLU
